WFMW - the lava lamp!

July 26th, 2006

lava lampIt’s been a busy week around here, and we haven’t had much time to just sit down and enjoy each other. Maybe this is why I decided to talk about the lava lamp today, it isn’t a traditional tip or anything, but it really made our evening. You see, a lava lamp is not only a wonderful piece of art and a relaxation tool, but a source of great fascination for Lil’ Duck Duck! We spent a good hour lying on the bed watching it, while he exclaimed “wow! balls! wow! lamp! wow! light! wow!” endlessly. It did eventually help him settle down and relax, making for a nice little bonding moment as we laid on the bed just watching the lava, enjoying each other’s company without the busyness of life getting in the way.

Sweet! My boys have actually be asking for them too. One Christmas much to my SIL’s chagrin my mother got my brothers one (they’d both had them in their childhoods) lol.

You know, One of these might been good for my 11 yo. Since he is ADHD, he has a hard time settling down at night. Like me, it’s the brain racing. Maybe having a Lava lamp would give him something to occupy his mind so he can let it settle. Heck, I might try it for myself.

I wonder if my husband’s disco globe (that he used at his start-up company) would be as fascinating. It is just collecting dust downstairs- thanks for the tips!!

I wish I had a lava lamp. I’m sure Snuggle Bug would love it! Usually when he’s on our bed, he thinks it’s tickle time because that’s where his Daddy likes to play tickle and bouncing on the bed games with him. :)

Thanks for stopping by to check out my WFMW post!

I have a lava lamp, I think I’m going to have to turn it on to see what the little guy thinks of it!

Great idea! I don’t have a lava lamp, but I bet it would provide for hours of entertainment for the little ones. Maybe I’ll have to invest. :-)

Thanks for coming by my blog the other day. I’ll head over and vote.

Very relaxing to watch. But be careful - they get pretty hot!

BTW - I think of your boy, whenever my Joe Cool gets his rubber duck collection out. When he was around 4, we visited friends who had their bathroom decorated with duckies. He decided then that he wanted a collection of duckies. So he’s got quite a collection going now - rubber ducks as well as soft, huggable ones, too. Have you ever visited http://www.rubbaduck.com to check out all the different kinds of ducks? We have several in this collection - pretty funny.

What a great idea! My youngest rarely sits still for a good long snuggle before bed, so we may need to invest in a lava lamp.

Thanks for stopping by to visit my glamorous life!
