WFMW - babyproof cabinets!
June 21st, 2006I hate baby latches. Either they don’t work, as in the baby can still open them ;), or they are so hard to get open that I contemplate unscrewing the handles to get into the cabinet or give up the contents as lost.
Anyway, what works for me on my double cabinets are simple baby links, normally meant as toys:

Just connect two of them to each handle (left photo - you might need an extra one between, depending on your handles) and you can detach them for easy access (right photo). It still keeps the little explorer out (altho I do have to occasionally tighten the screws on the handles from him yanking on them), even as he destroys the rest of my house on a regular basis!
Be sure to check out the rest of the Works For Me Wednesday tips too!

Great idea! Unfortunately, my one son would be able to work on that until he got it open, but that should work for most kids!
What a genuis idea!!!
SUCH a great idea - thanks for sharing! I’m loving your blog!
Great idea, thank you!! I have put latches on the ones he really messes with, but I may try that.
Great idea! I always had tons of these lying around.
I like your blog - it is my first time here. Your masthead photos are so cute!
Those links are great! I used to hang a few from the stroller handle, to attach shopping bags.
What an ingenious and inexpensive idea. No babies at my house, but I’ll pass it along to those who need such an idea.
I like that…and I have like a million of those from our baby days sniff, sniff
Hi Lisa-
You commented on my great white popsicle post. I wanted to let you know they are popsicle brand in the yellow box and they have a great white shark on the cover. Good luck finding them. They come with I believe 3 assorted flavors…. orange, cherry and then a mystery flavor.
What a neat idea! I love those dual purpose ideas. Thanks for visiting my blog
Brilliant! I find regular baby latches too hard to undo, but that is just… genius! Thanks!
That’s a great idea!
This is a great idea! I will definitely use this when my little guy becomes mobile.
