Thirteen reasons why my little boy loves his duck…
- He can “share” all his food with the duck.
- He can “share” all his sippy’s/smoothies/etc with the duck, including loud smacking noises and much laughing on my part.
- The duck is always there waiting for him no matter how much he kicks him, hits him, throws him, leaves him, and otherwise abuses him.
- The duck always seems to be clean regardless of the chalk/vegetable oil/marker/food/soy milk that is spilled on him (thank you, mama and the washer).
- The duck can go everywhere with him, being just big enough to cart along without tripping over or dragging on the ground.
- The duck makes a great bedtime companion, as he always puts Duck under his belly and sticks his behind up in the air with a sigh of contentment.
- The duck can play video games (or so he thinks….) – much to the little guy’s delight.
- The duck is a great playmate who chases him around the house, plays peek-a-boo, and other endless games.
- The duck doesn’t mind sitting thru endless “readings” of books.
- The duck never yells at him during his adventures, but rather joins him in sitting up on the kitchen counters, dumping food items all over the floor, or coloring on household items.
- The duck has his own song, which we all sing joyfully, and which the little guy repeats while dancing around with the duck.
- The duck is a great dance partner who never gets whiplash.
- Duck is a forever friend, much loved by the little one!

Reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit. The duck will know he’s loved, despite the kicking, dropping, etc.

That is soo cute! My little boy carries around two stuffed animals the size of him so he does trip up alot. One of the stuffed animals is a lion and the other is Elmo.
I was reading this post and just howling. Seriously. Aren’t kids just the sweetest?
Funny thing is, I can relate – my sister carried a bunny around everywhere when she was little, and when I was growing up my cat had a stuffed Snoopy bean bag toy she took everywhere.
Of course, I currently have a wee rubber ducky in my purse for a photography project…
My thirteen are up too
Two of my kids have lovies, and they still play with them and carry them around at home now that the girls are 8. Sometimes the lovies go out with us, but that’s rare now as they become more decrepit and we worry they will be completely done in. You can see one of them here which helped out at our Christmas recital… Meowie

This by far has been my favorite thirteen things! My son has a monkey, but I’m guessing he doesn’t love his monkey like your little guy loves his ducky! =o)

Is the duck like his blanket? Justice doesn’t have a special item yet, he is 11 mos. old. It is so cute when they do have that special thing that they hold dear and carry everywhere. May be he will pick something out as he gets older. Neat things. My list is up!

This is my first visit to your blog. What a precious place you have here.
I understand this one. Pooh has been around since my daughter was 4 mos old. He went everywhere and loved toast. We have pictures of her with Pooh, all major milestones.
She is 12 now. She still sleeps with Pooh.
