The cookie monster is appeased….

November 7th, 2006

Lil Duck cookie sweet

Unlike his mama, Lil’ Duck has a sweet tooth - begging for M&Ms at breakfast, charming the deli ladies at the grocery store into giving him cookies, mastering the sweet art of the “pleeeeaaassseeee, mama” accompanied by a huge, cheesy grin. Today, while visiting the grocery store, we found the perfect treat for this little cookie monster - M&M cookies. I couldn’t resist the sweet little pleas for “cookies, peeeaaassseee, mama, mmmm, nummy, and ‘ippy milk too!!” - so he got a small container of his prized delights.

You will notice that he can’t just eat one, then move on - every single cookie had to have a bite taken out, then another, and so forth. He could not wait to get home and screeched impatiently as I searched for something with which to pry the container open - then it was pure cookie delight, cackles of joy and such happiness that I don’t even mind the temporary sugar rush.

His main concern was the M&Ms that fell out of the cookies - the “oh, no, mama, broke it, da cookie, oops, mama, no mean it!!” was just so sweet. Once I showed him how to put the M&M back into the spot in the cookie from whence it came, he was again appeased. Mmmmm, that’s good.

Yes, the order does matter, and yes, they need to be lined up properly. With Clifford, Ducky, sippy and cookies, the coffee table is his veritable throne room, from which he can point and demand - “more wonderpets, mama, peeeassseeee” - it’s that sweet please and the big smile that comes with it which makes it impossible to refuse…..

He is such a cutie! He and my daughter would get along so well. They’re so much alike.

My daughter Rummy used to line up all her food like this and take one bite (of the exact size and placement) out of each thing. (like cracker sandwiches from a Lunchable.) Which was such a difference from her older sister who would just eat everything in no order at all. ;-)

Joe Cool had a plate full of chocolate chip cookies instead of cake for his 2nd b-day.

    Cookies & m&m’s - what’s not to love.

You’ve sure got a cute guy there Mama Duck!

Well of course a single, loose M&M is a crisis for a tot.

Actually, for my son it’s any spill at all that he makes. They’re almost all emergencies to be taken care of NOW!!!

Oh, my goodness, this is one of the sweetest stories I’ve read in a looooong time. Especially good with the pictures! Smart kiddo, there! Take one bite, and the cookie is yours. One bite out of EACH of them, and they’re ALL yours! ;)

He looks so cute and if only the cookies own’t crumble and get algae, it would be nice to frame it.
