Thanksgiving with the Lil’ Duck

8

thanksgiving day toddlerAfter looking back at previous Thanksgiving photos, it’s hard to believe that this year he was sitting at the table with the adults, eating off a real plate and using a real spoon. He loved the mashed potatoes, to where he had four helpings – I guess his ban on vegetables doesn’t extend to potatoes. He also liked the crescent rolls, but he wanted to take one bite out of each of them and kept asking for “a new one, a WARM one, no ucky old one”. Hah!

As for the turkey – he wasn’t too impressed. He asked for “chicken” and insisted that the turkey statue on the table was a chicken – that “lay eggs bwak, bwak, bwak, bwak, chiccccckkkken!” Nevermind that the turkey on the table was multi-colored and was sitting on pumpkins (which led to the running joke about the turkey laying pumpkins, which Lil’ Duck took quite seriously, of course). No worries though, as his mommy isn’t a big meat-eater anyway, so the turkey was safe from him at least. It was good turkey though….

Eating pumpkin pieThis is my favorite action shot from the pumpkin pie enjoyed by all later in the day. We have photos of him sitting and looking at the pie, but it was definitely a moment where I had the opportunity to snap a photo that will be a great blackmail tool in the future. It’s also a great thing to show people who insist that the little one never eats (here, see, he eats…. pumpkin pie…..). He loves pumpkin pie though, but he was unimpressed with the “real” whipped cream (plain heavy cream, not the canned stuff). I think he’s sticking to the stuff in the can after this. Ah well, Mommy loves the real stuff and she only gets it once a year, so too bad for the little one ;) .

Anyway, a great Thanksgiving was had by all over here in Duck-land and I hope yours was equally wonderful. If you post a story about your own Thanksgiving, let me know in comments or with a trackback and I’ll link you here, I love reading Thanksgiving stories and seeing how different families celebrate this holiday.

Linked to Third World County, where David is celebrating his 28th anniversary with his Wonder Woman – go on over and wish them a wonderful day, that’s such an inspiring accomplishment in today’s world….

Maybe there’s hope for my 11 month old’s table manners yet! I live in New Zealand, so no ‘Thanks Giving’ celebrations here, but my little daughter loves her meat! Not sure it’s so appealing when she plays ‘peek-a-boo’ with it!
