Here is a collection of all of our undersea, ocean & fish birthday party ideas that we posted over the past few days, feel free to add your own ideas in the comments below also. We have several photo birthday invitation designs in our galleries for your party also, or you may adapt any of our other designs to add undersea & fish theming for your party.
Party food ideas:
For the punch bowl, use blue kool-aid & sprite with gummy sharks frozen in ice cubes to look like fish swimming around!
Set out a bowl of fish-shaped crackers for your guests to snack on during the party, or as an appetizer while you prepare other snacks.

Play Rainforest Sounds Musicthroughout the party.
- Build a tree out of colored butcher paper to designate the gift table. (Wrap brown paper around a cylinder. Leave some folds and crinkles in the paper to make it look like bark. Unfold some wire coat hangers. Cut out leaf-like shapes about 2 – 2.5 feet long (think banana trees) out of green paper and attach one leaf to the end of each wire. Stick the bare ends of the wires into the cylinder so that the wire side of the leaves are facing up and the wires are hidden. Attach a few frogs to the trunk of the tree and place on a table.
- Use banana leaves (on plates) to serve food. Use dark wood or bamboo serving dishes and utensils. Read more
Musical Chairs
Line up alternate facing chairs, one less than the number of children playing. The players move round the chairs while the music is playing. When the music stops they have to sit down on a free chair, the player without a chair is out, take away one chair each time, repeat until you have 2 players and 1 chair the one to sit down first is the winner.
Cat Tails Game
Get long strips of cloth (any extra you have around) – make them at least one yard long and have the kids put them in the back of their pants, with it just hitting the ground. Then the kids run after each other, trying to step on the tail. When they lose the tail, they are out of the game. The winner is the last one with a tail. A couple rounds of this game should tire them out!
Pinatas
If you have a pull string pinata (so no one could get whacked with the stick) you can take a poster of the themed character & do pin the ______ on the character (i.e. pin the net on SpongeBob, pin the bone on Scooby-Doo, etc). Each child gets a prize for things like the closest, the farthest, the most sideways to the left & to the right.
