We all know how much fun the little ones have when they get to make pine cone/peanut butter bird feeders, but this is a fun, easy activity that can help teach preschoolers & younger school age children how to recycle at the same time.  It was passed along to me by a fellow mama – enjoy!

What you need…
Mesh Bags (like the ones onions, apples, or oranges come in)
Dryer Lint
Bits of Thread and Yarn

How you do it…
Stuff the mesh bags with dryer lint and short pieces of thread and yarn (supervise younger children).  Hang the bags high in trees and shrubs where birds can find them.  They will use the lint, thread and yarn in their nest-making.

Boy Third Birthday InvitationMusical Chairs
Line up alternate facing chairs, one less than the number of children playing. The players move round the chairs while the music is playing. When the music stops they have to sit down on a free chair, the player without a chair is out, take away one chair each time, repeat until you have 2 players and 1 chair the one to sit down first is the winner.

Cat Tails Game
Get long strips of cloth (any extra you have around) – make them at least one yard long and have the kids put them in the back of their pants, with it just hitting the ground. Then the kids run after each other, trying to step on the tail. When they lose the tail, they are out of the game. The winner is the last one with a tail. A couple rounds of this game should tire them out!Dora Themed 3rd Birthday Party Invitation

Pinatas

If you have a pull string pinata (so no one could get whacked with the stick) you can take a poster of the themed character & do pin the ______ on the character (i.e. pin the net on SpongeBob, pin the bone on Scooby-Doo, etc). Each child gets a prize for things like the closest, the farthest, the most sideways to the left & to the right.
