Still need gifts for the men in your life??
December 14th, 2006For all you last minute shoppers - Amazon has their Great Deals under $50 list out, they still have a lot of other products in stock as well.
We had the chance to try out the new Philips Norelco Bodygroom this week and Amazon still has it in stock for only $29.99! Daddy Creature’s help was enlisted as this product is mainly meant for men’s use - he was thrilled to finally get to try one of the cool products (I usually hog the product review things ;)). He loved the nice, close shave without any pulling, which is unusual for an electric razor (here at the Duck household, we use a lot of regular razors with blades, it’s normally easier, faster and less painful, so we were pleasantly surprised). The attachments are great, I can’t wait to try out the combs on Lil’ Duck’s hair (our previous trimmer decided to start eating batteries and nearly made one explode the other day, so it had to go, perfect timing).
The only downsides that he noticed about this product is that the stand is a little flimsy and doesn’t have a place to put the accessories. The cord is fairly long for our use, as we sit it on the top of the bathroom counter beside the plug (might be a good thing for others, however). While using the attachment combs, the hair tends to get stuck beneath and needs to be coaxed out before you can continue shaving, a minor annoyance that I find is true with most clippers of that sort.
Another great gift idea which I got to try out is Insignia’s new Sport 2GB MP3 player. Although Daddy Creature and I both have our own iPods, we’re always open to trying out other music players and I was excited to actually see how it measured up to the iPod. It was surprisingly easy to use on my Mac - all I had to do was plug it in and it popped right up on my desktop with preloaded folders for drag-and-drop music addition - a wonderful, beautiful thing (Windows users may need to use the included software).
Of course, I had to convert the music which I wanted to place into the player into MP3 files, which was a little bit of a pain, but nothing too terrible. The sound quality from the supplied headphones wasn’t bad at all either. I love that you can load photos onto it (video clips as well, even), making it a high-tech alternative to carrying around photos in the wallet or something (because everyone wants to show off their little ones, right? ;)).
I’d say it’s definitely not as nice as an iPod, from the outside construction (the buttons work fine but feel cheap, not smooth and polished like the iPod) to the cheap plastic case supplied with it, but it is only $119.99, so I guess I can’t expect quite the same quality. Of course, you can get a 2GB iPod Nano for $142.49 at Amazon right now…. or a 4GB iPod Nano
for $189.99….
On a final note, Always.com is running an essay contest where they’re looking for inspiring women who prefer to turn negative feelings into positive ones - head on over there and check it out, you could win prizes!

Note - No Daddy Creature was harmed during the process of testing and has earned his seal of approval…..if it is worth anything.
You are the second person I’ve seen who’s mentioned getting to try the razor. How did you score such a cool deal?
