At Christmas time, we went up north to visit relatives. Lil’ Duck wasn’t used to stairs inside the house & definitely not carpeted stairs that were open to his access at all times. Since he wouldn’t stay away from them and was good at going up and down stairs outside already, we worked with him until he learned to hold the handrail and walk down properly. This was after several failed attempts to get him to slide down on his tummy (feet-first) and to bump down on his bottom. We still kept a close watch on him (Daddy Creature is at the bottom, just in case) but he never fell and went up and down those stairs all day, every day for the week that we were there.

It is always interesting (and sometimes scary) watching kids learn new things. He appears to have mastered this well. Happy weekend.
Something told me you would have a picture like this one. It’s really good. I remember teaching our girls the same thing.
Happy weekend! If you have time, please check out my pic on My Photo Blog.
wtg another thing learnt
What a wonderful photo! And a necessary skill! OH! the stairs in a Dutch house… it’s enough to make you shiver every time you watch a kid heading up or down them.
What a cute pic and story! wonderful choice for today’s theme. Happy saturday, my pic is posted
It’s always scary to visit a house with stairs when your toddler isn’t used to them. You did a great job teaching him a new skill!
it looks so long and steep for a little child…but your kid is very brave
He looks like he knows what he’s doing! Good job mom!!
Happy Saturday, mines up!
I’ll bet he felt like a big boy all week going up and down those stairs just like a pro!
Dad at the bottom with his heart in his mouth, no doubt.
