Our modified hide-and-go-seek game!

August 3rd, 2006

Well, after mentioning this game in our sweetest comments list, I had some people ask how we modified this. We tried to play the regular way, with him in the corner counting (he insists on “unnnn, dooooo, ten, eidght, teeeennn”), then tried to get him to hide instead of Daddy. It turns out that he is incapable of realizing that he needs to hide and of being quiet. So…. we let Daddy hide. Lil’ Duck and I went into the ducky bathroom, turned on the light, faced the cabinets, then I counted slowly to ten with him chiming along. Then we did the normal “Ready or not, here we come to find you!”, shut off the light, and he took off running in search of Daddy. We’re talking a small condo and easy hiding spots, like under the mattress, under the ball pit, under the laundry, in the closet, etc.

He takes great delight in discovering Daddy in different places, and checking all the previous hiding spots (picture the little guy trying to lift up our heavy mattress, just priceless). I think he would have played this game all night if we had let him, there was a huge tantrum when we finally had to stop! Definitely worth a try with your little one!

Sounds fun… my little Gray would love to play along with Lil Duck! (How does daddy like the smell from under the laundry? What a good Dad!)

It’s so funny how kids can play the same game over and over again without getting tired of it!

Any news on the casting call? I don’t know about you, but that sure wore me out!

Casting call results are finally posted sorry it took so long. I was out food sampling all day lol.

My 18 year old told her four year old sister to go hide last night and then just left her hiding for quite a while for some peace and quiet LOL.

If you’re at the toddler stage, there’s a good chance you (or some of your readers) might be interested in the (literally) best parenting tip my wife and I ever received. You can read about it in The Five-Minute Drill. It might save you hours of sleep some night - it certainly did for us.

*sighs* Last time we tried Hide-n-go-seek at MY house, I was helping brat1 count and brat2 decided to hide in the DRYER! I was freaking out because I couldnt find her in any of her normal hiding spots (closet, behind the curtain, under the kitchen table..etc…) , I finally heard her giggling and there she was, pretty as you please in the dryer. I was like “thats it, mommy is banning that game” LOL I told my husband that we were going to have to use duct tape to keep the dryer closed bwahahaha…

Congratulations on your star :) I’m so happy to share the honor with you (and the others)!

Have a good night :O) Sweet dreams to all you Duckies!!

Little Duck and I have something in common! I love playing hide-and-seek with my human pet, only I don’t really ever come out of hiding. I just let her assume she knows where I am.

I suppose it could be more fun if she actually found me repeatedly. I’ll have to try that! :)

That is so cute! Yes, our kids could never stay still and quiet long enough to play hide and seek either. Of course now, they’ll hide just long enough to jump out and scare you. Stinkers!
