Jumping and leaping, oh my!

August 15th, 2006
Happy jumping toddler
He’s been able to jump for a long time now, so now he has expanded to jumping off of things. He put his rocking house atop the coffee table, then stood on top of it and jumped. He keeps contemplating the distance from the top of the kitchen counters to the floor, but between the LONG way down and Mommy’s furious yelling, he has refrained for the moment. He jumps on the bed and the couch all the time, does the tucks and belly flops and everything as if he was on a trampoline.
It just amazes me that this little guy, who couldn’t even sit up 19 months ago, is now jumping and leaping and climbing and so mobile and busy and happy!!

Just wait, Mom. It’s going to get more and more daring!

I love the imagery of him assessing the countertop height. His little brain just a-churning the information, as if it will transform itself into a logical formula.

    Too cute!

And just how many stitches did you say he’s had so far????

By the time she was over a year old, our younger daughter had already been strapped down in a papoose restraint, and had her scalp sewn up, for a jumping attempt off the bed that didn’t go so well. I can’t remember exactly how old she was, but she was quite the little dare devil. That hospital run scared us half out of our wits, but it didn’t faze her.

    Sounds very familiar ….

Now that’s up and running, it’ll be a hard task to keep him pinned down! Maybe he is practicing for his future in skydiving! You never know! ;)
