This year my daughter is 2 1/2 and we went to Party City and picked out toys from the bins of party favors! She is getting small rubber/plastic safari animals, a twirly whistle, a mini harmonica, stickers, a couple jelly beans, m&m's, sidewalk chalk, and crayons. All the eggs and fillers from Party City cost me UNDER $4! the sidewalk chalk and crayons I got from Target for super cheap. I think Party City's bins are the way to go, everything is 25 cents!

See's candy is always a favorite of ours. I also put other things like a pink stone heart. My husband and I found a hand painted egg with an angel on it at a Russian shop. Books are always great and money to teach your children how to save.
Last year I went to a spiritual shop for Angel coins and beautiful rocks girls love little things too.

These are great ideas---we're trying to keep the sugar content low because it really keeps our 20-month-old son from sleeping! One thing I found that I'll also be putting in his basket are snacks from Annie's natural foods (you can get them at Wegman's, Whole Foods, and some Targets)---they make little cheddar crackers (zero sugar!) and gummy fruit snacks (organic!) shaped like little bunnies. They're going to be perfect fillers for plastic Easter eggs.

There are some great idea here! I wish I had thought to get some of those squirting bath toys, my son loved those. He is getting sidewalk chalk, crayons, coloring books, baby sign language flash cards, peeps, some DVDs, eggs filled with cheerios and mini cheez-its, Sesame Street Elmo Clean Up Toy and a Hungry Caterpillar helmet and knee/elbow pad set for his new quad (also an Easter gift). We wound up having to do two Easter baskets, but I was so excited to find so many great things to put in his basket without having to fill it with candy. We are not big fans of candy here (peeps are my weakness and therfore the exception!). I was also happy to find some education things to sneak in there (the flash cards and DVDs). I also love your article with suggestions for filling the eggs!
