Little Mummy inspired me to post a year of Lil’ Duck’s photos (ok, a recap, I’m not really going to post 1000+ photos
) with her sweet review of her little girl’s year in the group writing project. Without further ado:
January was a month of joy – one of Lil’ Duck’s grandmas was able to visit him for the first time and they had a blast playing with each other:

1st layer:
2 cups coarsely chopped pretzels
3/4 cup melted margarine
3 T. sugar
Mix together and bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes, set aside to cool.
2nd layer:
1 8oz pkg cream cheese
1 cup sugar
2 cups whipped cream (small container)
Beat together and spread over pretzels.
3rd layer:
1 lg (6oz) pkg strawberry jello
1 10ox pkg frozen strawberries
Prepare jello as directed on package (2 cups boiling water), add frozen strawberries, let cool for a few minutes, pour on top of everything else before it thickens and let it chill. Enjoy!
Lil’ Duck, unlike his parents, is not used to cold weather. He has never seen snow, never known snowballs and snowmen and skiing and sleet and all that is the joy of wintertime. Last week, we took him to a community festival, where there was some ice snow on a hill for sledding. However, there were so many people there and such a lack of being able to actually touch the snow that he really didn’t get the concept. I got a bit of icy snow for him, which he declared to be “yucky” and “coooold”. He much preferred looking at the lights, the fountain, and running around the shuffleboard court.
However, this week there was a church festival with more snow. This time, not only was there a little sledding hill (with a much shorter line, we actually have a cute video of him sledding down the hill with me) but there was also snow spitting out from the “heavens” and a snow play area. We had to drag him kicking and screaming into this play area, despite his protests about “snow, no snow, snow icky, snow cold, no like it”. “Make da cookie, mama, cook da cookie den frosting and spinkles!!”

He helped put the cookies on the cookie sheet, I baked them, then I ended up doing most of the frosting work while he watched with great interest and stuck a finger in now and then. His special sprinkles, which he picked out in the store with great delight (”want da BALL ones, colorful, wow!!”) were now ready to be added to the much-anticipated cookies. Read more
