After days of barely sleeping at all, he spent the day with Grandma on Wednesday, slept from 11pm-6am on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, then was just exhausted. He went to the grocery store with Daddy on Thursday morning and was falling asleep before he even got the beloved balloon, came home and slept from 10:30-3:30pm – wow!!
We took him out to eat, he was in a great mood, who wouldn’t be with a long nap and a fun new place?? By the time we got home – before 5pm – he was falling asleep in his car seat again. He slept in until 7am this morning and is still napping after 2 hours as we speak. It’s good to know that this actually does eventually catch up with him, right??
This is assuming you consulted with your doctor and it’s ok to give them the medicine and so forth. A warning to those who pour it down their throat while they are screaming – they throw it back up and it just isn’t a great thing…. yes, that’s personal experience talking, I was desperate, ugh.
- Have them lay down on your lap with their legs around you, slumping towards the floor, then give it to them with the dropper.
- Lay them on the floor on their back, squat over them using your legs to hold their arms down on the sides. Then use one hand to hold their head still and the other to dump it in.
- Sneak the dropper in while they have their mouth open (make them laugh, etc.), squirting it into the inside of the cheek.
- Use a little medicine cup (like what you get on top of cough syrup).
- Use a big medicine dropper (usually found at the store for a dollar or so), put it back between the gum and the cheek and then blow on their face.
- Use a pacifier dispenser.
- Use a medicine spoon (the little one would never stand for this, but maybe yours will….)
Anything that works for your little one that I missed??
Appetizer
On average, approximately how many times per day do you yawn?
Too many – it seems that I am always wishing for sleep, as the little one still decides to wake at odd hours. I have given up hope that he shall ever sleep all night, and therefore I exist in a bit more satisfied fog of sleepiness.
Soup
What was your most memorable school field trip?
We were always going out and about, as we are trying to do with our own little one now. I remember taking a bus trip to an excellent zoo, especially as we took the little guy to the zoo a few weeks ago as well. Can we count these trips as his first field trips yet?
Salad
Fill in the blank: I was extremely __________________ this week.
BUSY!! Wow. I hosted the Carnival of the Vanities, which was actually more work to put together than I would have thought, then I just got slammed with traffic. Then that surge of traffic seemed like nothing as then Instapundit finally gave in to my letters and linked to my humble site, crashing it for a minute and killing my ads and trackers. However, it came back up and I enjoyed the attention
.
I also had a lot of REAL work and projects to do this week – I still do, oops – that actually bring me some money, imagine that.
Main Course
Which color do you think of when you hear the word “soothing”?
Blue. It reminds me of the ocean, of calm skies, and generally of peaceful times. Perhaps I should paint one of my rooms in my house blue…. oh wait, the little one’s room is already part blue, and so is his bath!
Dessert
What is something that, if you had to, you could save up the money to buy within one month?
Hmmmmmm….. Starbucks?? I need more money, couldn’t you tell that from my salad?
Have a excellent weekend, feel free to check out the Carnival that’s still here….
Want to participate in the Friday Feast or read other entries?? Dine here!

Thirteen reasons why my little boy loves his duck…
- He can “share” all his food with the duck.
- He can “share” all his sippy’s/smoothies/etc with the duck, including loud smacking noises and much laughing on my part.
- The duck is always there waiting for him no matter how much he kicks him, hits him, throws him, leaves him, and otherwise abuses him.
- The duck always seems to be clean regardless of the chalk/vegetable oil/marker/food/soy milk that is spilled on him (thank you, mama and the washer).
- The duck can go everywhere with him, being just big enough to cart along without tripping over or dragging on the ground.
- The duck makes a great bedtime companion, as he always puts Duck under his belly and sticks his behind up in the air with a sigh of contentment.
- The duck can play video games (or so he thinks….) – much to the little guy’s delight.
- The duck is a great playmate who chases him around the house, plays peek-a-boo, and other endless games.
- The duck doesn’t mind sitting thru endless “readings” of books.
- The duck never yells at him during his adventures, but rather joins him in sitting up on the kitchen counters, dumping food items all over the floor, or coloring on household items.
- The duck has his own song, which we all sing joyfully, and which the little guy repeats while dancing around with the duck.
- The duck is a great dance partner who never gets whiplash.
- Duck is a forever friend, much loved by the little one!

You’d think he would want to sleep in – he had a busy day yesterday and stayed up late playing with Daddy. Of course not, bright and early, I hear banging on his bedroom door and yells of “out, Mama, out, Dada, sippy!” – ugh. Of course, just letting him out and giving him a sippy doesn’t appease him – then he wants to play, yelling “mama, maaaaaaamaaaaaaa” and pulling my hair until I look at him. Then he decides it is time for a shower, and chatters endlessly “dada, water, mist, cold??” – until finally his daddy gets up and takes him into the shower.
Ah, a few lovely minutes of peace.
Five reasons why Instapundit should link to COTV this week… and why you should as well…
- The unique and interesting hosts – I mean, where else can you find a carnival hosted by stuffed ducks??
- The oldest, most distinguished carnival in the blogosphere deserves nothing less…
- I’d be eternally grateful (unlike certain other people), therefore posting about your greatness on my humble blog, sending all the other mama’s who read this your way (and I know you always need more readers
). - Who can resist the cute face of Lil’ Duck at the top of my blog??
- How often do you have the chance to link to a blog about toddlers – seriously?
Just a little blip saying “Carnival of the Vanities is up” will do, I’m not asking for anything fancy…..
Update: The letter worked! *kisses Glenn’s feet* Does that mean I have to agree with him now??
My little guy is always cutting, biting or smashing his lips/tongue/cheeks/you name it – he’s a busy little guy and always into everything. To help with the bleeding and pain, popsicles are our friends. Not only because they calm him down and because it’s probably the only way I could get ice in there, but also because the sugar helps to stop the bleeding! Learn something new every day, eh? Just don’t let them suck hard on it, as that will just make things worse…Be sure to check out the rest of the Works For Me Wednesday tips as well as the Carnival of the Vanities which is being hosted here this week, busy place, eh?
