On our third Mother’s Day with the little one, we are celebrating with one of his three beloved grandmas. He adores all of his grandmas & takes over the cell phone daily to call them and tell them all about his newest adventures. We are just so thankful that he can have such a great relationship with all of his grandmothers, which isn’t something that all children have, of course. Since I was a little short on time, I adapted this birthday card design for his Mother’s Day card to his grandmas:

As for me, I enjoyed creating this card for him as a look back through the 2 1/2 years since he’s arrived – so much happiness and so many sweet smiles (and thousands of photos!). Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers & grandmothers, take time to enjoy the blessings of the little ones this holiday!

After looking back at previous Thanksgiving photos, it’s hard to believe that this year he was sitting at the table with the adults, eating off a real plate and using a real spoon. He loved the mashed potatoes, to where he had four helpings – I guess his ban on vegetables doesn’t extend to potatoes. He also liked the crescent rolls, but he wanted to take one bite out of each of them and kept asking for “a new one, a WARM one, no ucky old one”. Hah!

As for the turkey – he wasn’t too impressed. He asked for “chicken” and insisted that the turkey statue on the table was a chicken – that “lay eggs bwak, bwak, bwak, bwak, chiccccckkkken!” Nevermind that the turkey on the table was multi-colored and was sitting on pumpkins (which led to the running joke about the turkey laying pumpkins, which Lil’ Duck took quite seriously, of course). No worries though, as his mommy isn’t a big meat-eater anyway, so the turkey was safe from him at least. It was good turkey though….

This is my favorite action shot from the pumpkin pie enjoyed by all later in the day. We have photos of him sitting and looking at the pie, but it was definitely a moment where I had the opportunity to snap a photo that will be a great blackmail tool in the future. It’s also a great thing to show people who insist that the little one never eats (here, see, he eats…. pumpkin pie…..). He loves pumpkin pie though, but he was unimpressed with the “real” whipped cream (plain heavy cream, not the canned stuff). I think he’s sticking to the stuff in the can after this. Ah well, Mommy loves the real stuff and she only gets it once a year, so too bad for the little one .

Anyway, a great Thanksgiving was had by all over here in Duck-land and I hope yours was equally wonderful. If you post a story about your own Thanksgiving, let me know in comments or with a trackback and I’ll link you here, I love reading Thanksgiving stories and seeing how different families celebrate this holiday.

Linked to Third World County, where David is celebrating his 28th anniversary with his Wonder Woman – go on over and wish them a wonderful day, that’s such an inspiring accomplishment in today’s world….

We have nothing but thankful hearts this Thanksgiving season! Lil’ Duck brings us so much joy every day – that he is happy and healthy and learning new things every day is more than enough to be thankful for this holiday. Here’s a look back at his first Thanksgiving:

He was way too little to sample the feast, but boy did he feast his eyes upon it! He was so cute and chubby and tiny, content just to sit with us and enjoy the company of his family.

Last Thanksgiving, he was old enough to sample some of the delights – we gave him a little bit of everything, although he really didn’t like anything except those crescent rolls and the pumpkin pie. We are thankful that he has grown a nice head of hair since then as well .

This Thanksgiving, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us! It’s been a wonderful year and we are thankful for every day with our little guy. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving with your families as well.

Lil’ Duck’s new favorite movie is Cars. He loves everything about it and yells “WOW, cars, mama, look, cars, daddy, look, CARS!!” constantly. We rented the DVD from Blockbuster and he carts it with him around the house – he even asked to bring it with him while we were out and about today. Every day, he wants to watch it constantly – he loves Lightning McQueen (the red car) of course, but also the tow truck Mater, and boos at the green car.

On Sunday, he asked to take it to Grandpa’s house to watch it on the BIG screen television – so we did, and he was awed by the sight of his cars on a big TV and the sound with a full surround system and subwoofer (something our neighbors wouldn’t appreciate here, surely). Today when he was again at Grandpa’s house, he asked for Cars (which was here at home), remembering what fun it was before! It amazes me how much joy one little thing can bring into his life, he surely does love his Cars!

He started howling and yelling for “Da-da, car, home, vroom-vroom, play me!”. I tried to distract him, asking him what he would do when Daddy did come home.

Little did I know, I was unleashing upon myself an hour’s worth of “Da-da, daaaaaaa-daaaaaaaa, hug, da-da, kiss, da-da, hide-seek me!” Thankfully, after that hour, the beloved daddy did arrive home, resulting in the happiest hour of the day for the little guy as Daddy played games with him tirelessly from 9:30pm until he fell asleep around 11pm.

Never underestimate how attached a little one can get to his Daddy, even if he isn’t home very often!
