Buy several so you can play along and learn together, if you've not played a recorder before. And the skillset translates very well to other instruments as time goes on. Yeh, yeh, for Lil Duck's age, it may be very, very slightly advanced, but things that are real musical instruments can be fun, too. The site linked also has real (Kodaly-type) percussion and other instruments suitable for young children. Or, do like my mom did: bring out the pots n pans and spoons and such. Save oatmeal boxes and other things you and lil Duck can make musical instruments of together, etc. All kindsa fun! Neat list. How about one of these, too?
